Situation
The U.S. Postal Service has undertaken an initiative to reduce energy consumption at its processing and distribution centers across the U.S. The facility in Wichita, Kan., was included in this effort.
Solution
CMW and Midwest Engineering (MEI) conducted an initial utility and energy evaluation, including 12-month utility profile, comparison to typical weather data and review of site conditions. Based on this evaluation a project specific plan was developed. The plan included retrofit of various lighting and lighting energy controls; existing workroom and high bay lighting was replaced with new fluorescent lighting. New occupancy sensors were installed in offices and associated areas. CMW and MEI produced and delivered the measurement and verification reports for these USPS projects.
Bottom Line
The U.S. Postal Service’s processing and distribution centers in Omaha, Wichita, Denver, Las Vegas and more than a dozen facilities in the Southeastern U.S. have together saved hundreds of thousands of dollars as a result of these energy savings programs.
